YEAR 2

MANGROVE ECO-RESEARCH HUB

The affects of climate change are having a negative impact on ecosystems and biodiverse habitats on the island of Huraa. Scientific research into coral bleaching is limited by physical facilities, with growing experimentation to prevent, restrict and manipulate the genetic information of coral. Encouraging growth to the existing mangrove forest into the ocean will provide coastal protection to the islands urban fabric and help mitigate affects of coral bleaching.

The Mangrove Eco-Research Hub will create an international base for scientific exploration; stimulate island tourism and provide an accessible educational facility to the local school. Ultimately resolving a number of environmental, political and social issues faced on the island.
