The Outlying Collective is a proposed organization that could unify remote island communities across the various atolls of the Maldives. Threats of sea level rise have forced the implementation of a population consolidation policy in the Maldives. There is a consensus that, in the long-term and as the sea level rises, it will be impossible to protect widely dispersed populations. 

 

The common goal of the intervention is to protect the island population from tidal changes through a warning system and provide an economic future for these forgotten islands, through the production and sale of oyster pearl farming.
