THE MALDIVIAN E-WASTE METAL EXCHANGE
The project responds to the global accumulation of ever increasing quantities of e-waste. It identifies a site for the collection and recycling of e-waste along the Indian ocean trade route. It looks to create a new economy in the Maldives, provide an alternative
hybrid material for land reclamation and expose the dangers and hidden value of electronic waste.
It produces a plastiglomerate land mass and separates out the precious metal components of e-waste. These are brokered at an E-waste Metal Exchange facility in Male to close the global precious metal resource loop.
