YEAR 2

CLIMATE ADAPTATION INTERFACE

The Maldives currently ranking 4th in the world for mobile phone use per capita, with over two phones registered per person. This proposal takes advantage of this to initiate a smart phone based citizens mapping scheme that collects and maps islands’ climate change threats with respect to local perception and knowledge.

Smart phones essentially enable the merging of self, world and data about one’s place in that world, this digital/physical relationship manifests itself as a computational data park. A public space to help raise local awareness by providing the community with a forum to discuss adaptation strategies - an architectural interface to help combat the threats of climate change.
